Ericsson Orion PC Remote Control
Orions where a very good series of radios made by Ericsson, now M/A Com. They come in a wide range of bands. The one I have is 430Mhz to 470Mhz. The radio has a RS485 for use with a remote head. The Idea is to make a computer front panel to control it. I’m using a USB-RS485 converter to interface it to the computer.

Progress!!! After a little work I figured out that the buadrate is 38400,8,n,1. And the channel name is sent in cleartext. At least monitoring which channel the radio is on will be easy.
Slowly starting to make sense of the mess called a binary protocol! Can’t really post the information as it would be of questionable legallity. But for my own personal use…
Once I get something complet that works I will see what the legal ramifications of releasing something would be. Till then stay posted! I will keep a list of what I got working on here as I continue to decode the protocol.
